Depending on your companies security guidelines, you may force different issues as an example that your security settings are blocking the loading of all unpacked Google Chrome extensions. Hence, the Selenium session cannot be opened successfully.
If the following error (“Error loading extension: Failed to load extension from: […]”) occurs while starting Chromedriver, you can follow the subsequently described steps. Most likely, they will solve the issue.
- Open the file Core.AutomationLibraries.SeleniumWrapper2.dll.config in a text editor (e. g. Notepad++). You’ll find this file in the following subdirectory of your Designer (former Composer) installation: …\Composer\Activities\AM.Core.Activities.X.X.X
- Change the value of the key use_automation_extension to false (it is set to true by default) and save your changes.
- (Re-)Start the Hyland RPA Designer (former AM Composer). The error should no longer appear and you should now be able to open Chrome, because the Chromedriver will not try to load the automation extension with your updated settings.
