Here, you can manage all variables, arguments and imports of the automation project in one place using the variable management view. Variable Management is located in the ribbon and is accessible from both the Analyst or the Developer View.
Each variable consists of a variable name, type, and scope where the variable is used. The data for each variable is stored inside a so-called value (e.g. "Hello World").
Add a Variable
To add a variable, press Add above the table toolbar and maintain the variable name, type, scope and optional default value.
Delete a Variable
To delete a variable, select the variable and press Delete
Rename a Variable
To rename a variable, select the variable and press the 'pen' icon. Afterwards, an additional rename dialog will appear. Establish a new variable name, then press Ok. The checkbox Rename in all Activities automatically renames the variable in all scopes and activities where the variable is used.
To define the renamed activities and scopes, manually un-check the option and maintain the activities to rename the variable afterwards.
Browse for Types
To browse for additional variable types, select Browse for Types inside the Type drop-down menu. The Browse for .net type dialog will then open, and the user can then search for additional variable types.
Common variables types are:
|Variable that stores only the character string, but no numeric value.|
|Integer||Variable that can represent all integers (e.g. 7, 8 or 9, but not 7.5, 8.7, or 9.1)|
|Boolean||Variable that allows only two expressions (True and False or True and False).|
|Double||Variable that can represent all real numbers (thus also 7.5, 1/3 or 9.1).|
